Reminiscing Sohoton Cove and Bucas Grande in Surigao del Norte

Back in the summer of 2016, we were given the opportunity to get away from all the stress in the city and travel to a place where it is very relaxing. I was with my husband for their summer affair in Duka Bay when some of his teammates at work decided to go to Surigao del Norte to experience its majestic Bucas Grande and Sohoton Cove.

It was quite a long drive to get there, but I must say that it was all worth it. From Surigao del Norte, we had to go to the Hayangabon Port where pump boats are available for rent to reach the destination. I cannot really stress enough how amaze I Was with its beauty. If you are looking for a place to relax away from the city, I suggest you visit this place and judge it for yourself. Below are some attractions that we have seen during our stay.

Sohoton Cove

The reason why its called "Sohoton" is because you have to go underneath a hill so you can see the attractions on the other side. "Sohoton" is from the root word "sohot" which means "to go under". It cannot be access during high tides. So, it is best to visit this place when the tides are low so you can experience this attraction.

Stingless Jellyfish at the Sanctuary

This is one of the main reasons why people visit this place. You can touch them but it is prohihibited to swim with them at the sanctuary. However, there are tons of them scattered all over, and if you really wish to swim with them, you can do it in outside. These are very gentle creatures, and you need not to worry about getting stung.

Hagukan Cave

The name "hagukan" was formulated from the root word "haguk" which is snoring in English. The reason why this cave got this name is because you can literally hear a snoring sound inside of it due to the waves.

Club Tara

This is the most exquisite accommodation in the area. Aside from the glorious view of clear water, they offer amenities such as jacuzzis and swimming pool.

Tiktikan Lake

This islet offers diving, boating and trekking adventures. You can also see beautiful wooden sculptures made by the locals. It has a spot where you can just sit and enjoy watching the lake.

Bolitas and Crystal Cave

If you enjoy a challenging spelunking experience, then these caves are for you. Crystal cave, obviously with its name, has amazing crystal rock formations inside. There a couple of bats living in them too. Bolitas cave has tiny little passages that you can access by crawling through. There you will see wonderful stalagmites and stalactites.

Hidden Resort

The Hidden Island Resort was where we had our overnight stay. They have accommodations for a group of people. It's a great place to stay if you are with your family and friends.
